Hello All, and welcome to Classic Vintage Motorcycles . Com. I hope you enjoy this site. It is designed to be a source of information, entertainment and open communication between enthusiasts of vintage & classic motorcycles.
I have lots of plans for this site including a "project of the month bike", "a bike of the month", lots of pictures of your bikes and restorations, a riders blog, where you can share information about events, bikes and places to ride or find a riding buddy. We all have a story to share, and now you have a place to share it.
But for those of you who are new to classic and vintage motorcycles, let me tell you a little bit about it. Some riders find great pleasure in riding older machines. Sure, the new bikes are more advanced, but lack the soul of the older bikes. There is something special about older motorcycles. Maybe it's a link to our past. A shot back to a more carefree time. Some of us like taking what was a machine that was ready for the junk yard and making it like new again. Some of us just collect them, some ride them on the street, and others, like myself , race the old machines at vintage races. If you ever raced motorcycles in your younger days, try and check out a local vintage race. But be careful....you might just end up racing again!!!
I myself love vintage motorcycle racing. Every type of racing is available for vintage motorcycles. Putting together a vintage racing motorcycle is pretty easy today. There are many motorcycle shops that specialize in brands you may not have seen in awhile. These include: CZ, Maico, Bultaco, Carabella, Husqvarna, Ossa, Can Am, Montesa, Penton, Puch, Tyran, Zundapp, Greeves, AJS, Rickman, Sachs, Monark, DKW, Ducati, Triumph, BSA, Matchless, American Eagle, Hodaka, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and more...whew!!!!
And you can ride/ race your bike in vintage dirt track, trials, TT, roadrace, motorcross, cross country ice racing and I think even hill climbing.
With the internet, it is easier than ever to find parts and bikes. Soon we will have a link page. Also check out the ads that appear on the site. Many of these vendors will offer bikes, others catalogs of hard to find products to make your restoration much easier.
It is my personal dream to find and restore the bikes like I rode years ago. Like my first real street bike, a 1973 Kawasaki H2 750. What a monster. The fastest bike you could roll off the showroom floor. I think it cost me $1600 out the door. I have a long list of bikes to get. I did manage to get and restore a bike like my first actual motorcycle, a Honda CT 70. Just looking at it brings back so many happy memories. Next bike I'll be looking for is a Kawasaki G 31 M Centurion.
I will try my best to keep the site free from the politics of vintage organizations. It will not be a place to sling mud.
Check back regularly as the sites content and pictures will be changing.
